For High School Juniors Only
This year Wake Electric will award two
expenses paid trips to Washington, DC. All high school juniors in the
Cooperative’s service area are eligible to enter the contest.
Each winner will receive a $1,000
scholarship for college.
Contestants are to write a brief (around
300 words) report from one of the five topics provided.

Trips to Washington, DC
The trip is June 9 through
June 15, 2007. Winners travel by chartered bus to Washington, DC,
where they interact with 1,300 counterparts from 40 states. Highlights of the
trip include a boat ride and dance on the Potomac River, visits to the
Smithsonian Museums, Capitol Hill, and dinner and a play.
Wake Electric has sponsored high school
juniors to this event over 32 years.
Additional Youth Tour Scholarships
The $2,500 Gwyn B.
Price Youth Tour Scholarship, the $2,000 Katie Bunch Memorial Scholarship and
the $2,000 Youth Leadership Council Scholarship are awarded each year to
youth tour participants.
All youth tourists who
participate from North Carolina are eligible for the awards. They receive
application forms during their senior year and a panel of judges selects the
winners.
Contest Guidelines
The contest is open to
high school juniors living in counties Wake Electric serves: Durham,
Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties.

Important: Choose only one of the topics below and write about it in a brief
