If you’re tired of waiting for dial-up connections to get you to the Internet, WildBlue may be just what you need.

Through Wake Electric’s subsidiary, Triangle Services Group, Inc., you can connect to satellite speed Internet with WildBlue, a part of touchnc.net.

For more details call toll free 877.908.6824. Questions email wildblue@touchnc.net.

What is WildBlue?

WildBlue uses the latest satellite technology to deliver two-way high-speed affordable Internet to your home or small office.

All you need is a WildBlue modem and a mini-dish. You do not need a separate Internet service provider.

Because WildBlue is always “on,” there are no dial-up delays.

You’re always connected so you don’t have to worry about being bumped off.

Now you can download music and video in seconds, send and receive pictures to friends and family, and much more.

The cost is also affordable. WildBlue offers three different packages, starting at $49.95 monthly for the Value Pak. That’s about the cost of a second phone line plus a dial-up account.

Several download speeds are available—from 512 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps.

For both Mac and Windows/PC systems, your computer must have 128 MB RAM/ 100 MB free disk space, 300 Mhz or faster, and Ethernet.

Touchnc.net provides spam and virus filtering on all packages, web space and up to 10 email addresses.

For more information on WildBlue, call 919.863.6350 or 877.908.6824. You may also check out the web site at: www.wildbluenc.net or send an email to wildblue@touchnc.net.

Frequently Asked Questions about WildBlue

What is WildBlue?

WildBlue is a leading satellite Internet company, providing high-speed data services to homes and small offices in underserved or unserved communities.

Who are WildBlue’s investors?

WildBlue’s investors are Liberty Media Corporation, Intelsat and the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC).

How does WildBlue differ from other broadband data services?

WildBlue’s key value is in offering broadband Internet service to virtually every community across the continental United States. Terrestrial service providers (DSL and cable modem providers) are often limited in their geographic reach, not able to provide broadband to customers in harder-to-reach areas. About 25 million homes and small offices do not currently have a broadband option and are WildBlue’s initial target audience. WildBlue is planning to launch the most affordable satellite Internet service available, with lower monthly fees, lower upfront equipment costs and a wide variety of features at no additional cost to customers.

How fast is WildBlue’s service? How does it compare to cable modems and DSL?

WildBlue’s always-on broadband Internet connection provides speeds that are comparable to DSL and cable modem service. At launch, we will offer downstream speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps - more than 30 times faster than today’s dial-up speeds and upstream speeds of up to 256K which exceed most current satellite broadband providers. WildBlue’s high bandwidth also opens up a window to a world of rich content that is largely unavailable through dial-up modems.

Why is two-way wireless communication important to consumers?

WildBlue’s wireless service provides high-speed data in both directions, upstream and downstream. WildBlue’s two-way capability means customers do not need an additional phone or cable line or the expense of a traditional dial-up ISP in order to receive broadband Internet access.  And most importantly, WildBlue’s 2-way wireless platform means WildBlue can reach almost anyone anywhere.

What does WildBlue plan on charging for its service?

WildBlue will offer high-speed Internet access for as little as $49.95 per month. WildBlue will offer several packages, all at an affordable flat monthly fee for an unlimited broadband, always-on Internet service. Monthly pricing is expected to be lower than satellite broadband services that use Ku-band CONUS beam technology and comparable to cable modem or DSL service.

What will the installation process be like? Can a customer install his own dish?

WildBlue certified professional installation specialists will quickly and efficiently install equipment and activate WildBlue’s broadband service. The satellite mini-dish is about 26 inches x 28 inches and can be easily mounted on a roof or outside wall. A cable from the dish will connect to a satellite modem (a small box placed next to the PC), which will connect to a customer’s PC via standard Ethernet. Installation will require trained and certified installation professionals to make sure that the dish is pointed at the satellite accurately and all connections are made properly. Self-installation is not currently being offered.

Where will a customer be able to buy WildBlue service?

WildBlue will sell its service and equipment through Wake Electric's subsidiary Triangle Services Group.
